The mobile phone network seems to be a bit sensitive to minor fluctuations. Version 1.0.1 makes this alert much less common.
How embarrassing! Fixed in 1.0.1.
Place your finger on the image and hold it for a few seconds. A panel will come up asking if you want to save it. You can do the same thing in Mail and some other apps.
You can join them together again. On the “Check Chars” page, use two fingers to “grab” two pieces of the letter, and pinch them together. You can do this repeatedly if the letter was broken into more than two pieces.
Note: we’ve found that it takes a firm poke to register both fingers on the screen. The device doesn’t seem to notice a lighter touch! You’ll know it’s working when the two rows turn gray and you can move them toward each other.
WhatTheFont works best with a relatively solid background color
and obvious contrast between the background and foreground colors of the letters.
Various kinds of “imperfections” can throw it off, such as:
You can clean up the character list using the red “delete” controls, or you can just leave the text boxes blank where there’s no valid character. WhatTheFont will ignore the blanks and work on identifying only the characters you fill in.
