Margaret Calvert’s typeface is a contemporary interpretation of the slab serif style, less mechanistic than many, and owing more to humanist letterforms. Designed in 1980 for Monotype, Calvert is based on letters Margaret Calvert originally drew for the signage system of Britain’s Tyne and Wear Metro system.
