Rhodaelian’s advanced modular design multiplies the structural relations between letters. With some having as many as four alternate forms, these are not alternates in the conventional sense, but degrees of character. The Multi-Modular Display Type System gives the user control of modularity and typographic modelling to suit individual assignments. Transformation is instant and easily accessible from the application’s interface*, along with extensive automatic ligatures.

Rhodaelian employs a scheme of contrasting letter shapes to create a literal analog of speech. Letters with soft sounds like ‘o’, ‘e’, ‘h’, are given smooth outlines, while hard letters like ‘q’, ‘p’, ‘n’, are sharp-cornered & squarer. The visual richness avoids the bland uniformity of ‘old school’ of pre-millennial types without renouncing the integrity of the design type as a whole.

Note: the standard capitals, designed to work with the lower case, tend to produce an uneven topline in all-caps settings. This problem is solved with the alternate capitals.
