Captain Comic is very loosely based on lettering from 1967 to the early 1970s found in the very first Star Trek comic series ever published, the Gold Key one. By very loosely we mean most letter shapes were changed, rounded and tweaked for a more contemporary comic text look. The original lettering was uncredited, as was the entire series artwork for a whole decade, though research shows that four Italian artists were mainly responsible for it: Nevio Zeccara, Alberto Giolitti, Giovanni Ticci and Giorgio Cambiotti.

Updated in 2009, Chennai has new weights and OpenType features. Chennai is a simplified sans-serif with a full complement of OpenType alternates. Museo... it all started with my love for the letter ‘U’. This uppercase letter just came to me as an image in a daydream. The top of both stems bent into semi-slab serifs. From this principle I worked out the rest of the uppercase letters. My first intention was to make it an all-caps display font but after a while I changed my mind. I wanted it to be a bit more versatile, so I decided to add lowercase and adjust spacing and kerning to increase legibility.

MVB Solano Gothic Bold was originally designed as a display face for the City of Albany, California, located on the San Francisco Bay facing the Golden Gate Bridge and bordering the the Berkeley hills. Named for the City’s main street, the typeface needed to work on signage in proximity to older buildings, in contemporary settings, and for general print and web use. Rather than creating a neutered design to cover all bases, Mark van Bronkhorst chose to develop a simple, strong, condensed face that would offer flexibility of style by providing both retro and neutral forms.

In answer to a number of requests, lowercase characters have now been added to the Anisette Std display series, which was created in 1996. The lowercase characters are based on capitals of an intermediate width, between the two origninal widths, to provide a wider diversity of use. The Anisette Petite lowercase shares the sobriety of geometrical typefaces and the dynamics of the tension in the curves. Subtle imperfections seen in the r, l, and the particular g, help to create an original typeface.

Coriander started out as a doodle one afternoon when type designer and handwriting expert Tim Donaldson was bored and uninspired. He wrote the word “Coriander” and then was distracted by the sun beating through an adjacent window. So he taped the writing paper up on the window to block the glare. It stayed there for about three months until he took it down one day, folded it up, and stuck it in his pocket. About a week later the piece of paper fell out of his pocket and he was prompted to draw the rest of the characters (two alphabets) in his sketchbook. The final digitized characters were created by Donaldson using a Wacom tablet and later refined on the screen.
