Nicolete Gray

Respected English historian of lettering, who, according to Paul Shaw, “over a span of half a century, continually reminded calligraphers, typographers, and designers of the many alternatives to the primacy of the Trajan letter model.”

She taught at the Central School of Art and Design (London) from 1964 to 1981. Her books include A History of Lettering (Phaidon, 1986).
