Consolas is aimed for use in programming environments and other circumstances where a monospaced font is specified. All characters have the same width, like old typewriters, making it a good choice for personal and business correspondance. The improved Windows font display allowed a design with proportions closer to normal text than traditional monospaced fonts like Courier. This allows for more comfortably reading of extended text on screen. OpenType features include hanging or lining numerals; slashed, dotted and normal zeros; and alternative shapes for a number of lowercase letters. The look of text can be tuned to personal taste by varying the number of bars and waves.

Shortly after the collapse of the communist regime, a revolutionary atmosphere culminated at the studio of typography at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. The 1990s were characterised by the deconstruction of traditional type design. The construction of typefaces didn't conform to established proportions anymore — the frame was often self-supporting, and if not, it became a mere framework in which a narrative was told. On the one hand designers attempted to grasp and interpret the atmosphere of freedom of the 1980s, represented by David Carson and Neville Brody. On the other hand they feverishly attempted to appropriate anything that surrounded them in their daily lives, moulding those everyday elements into shapes that would vaguely resemble type. Most of these typefaces only appeared briefly on posters, sometimes just once. Only a few were applied in other design projects, which ensured their longevity. But for most of them their ephemeral lives quickly came to an end.

Telepath is a master sampling of a Royal office typewriter of industrial strength provided by the Miller Furniture store, of Dunkirk, New York. It had a baseline set of numbers to make accounting practices easy and line up nice on the statements. No gentile old fashioned numerical accenders and decenders. Yet, this was a rather old and stolid machine, but very luxurious and built to definitely take the test of time. Cudos for Royal Typewriter Company is all I can say. This set was very carefully manufactured and has fallen into the preferred category for a typewriter font that has it all, including various weights. I used Hans Miller’s typewriter while I hen pecked the story below. The font has exceptional value as a text font and a display font. It contains a great deal of graphic information and doesn't spike at higher sizes.

What happens when computer printer marries a chainsaw and a player piano? A piece of 1960s computer equipment called a chain printer that printed at alarming speeds, even by today’s standards. Band printers were similar to chain printers except were more like bandsaws than chainsaws. Most print chains and print bands had limited punctuation, no accents and no lowercase letters. Chainprinter recreates the effect of this mechanical marvel/nightmare of yesteryear.
