Swash letters are designed with decorative flourishes, borrowing some of calligraphy’s elegance and exuberance. Often fonts come in both plain and swash varieties, allowing the graphic designer to add a touch of luxury wherever desired – though being careful not to overdo it! Recent fonts offer their swash forms as OpenType alternates rather than as alternate fonts.
